I went to my WLE on wednesday from 7 to 12 I had to leave early because I was feeling sick. I also went on Saturday and Sunday with my cousin from 7 to 3 because I was feeling a little better and I needed to get some hours done. I did the usual which is being with the patients and keeping them company and doing things for them. On Sunday I spent a lot of time with my cousin and helping her out with her patients it was pretty good. So I did a total of 21 hours. Now I have 69 hours and 20 minutes. Today I was not able to go because I feel very sick but I will probably go in during the weekend.
My WLE is like I job because I have things to do, but I feel like it's something that I would not do in the future. It is like a job because you have to have a lot of patience and understand where these people are coming from and for me it is hard to understand where they are coming from. It is also not like a job because they give me the option of going in any day of the week and doing my hours and they let me leave at any time I want or I need to leave at. At a real job you have to do eight hours or you can lose your job.

WLE Reflection#7
Today I went to my internship and I got there at 8:50 am and I got out at 3:05. I was in the activity room almost all day. In the morning I wrapped some cookies and saw the elders do art work. That activity lasted until 11. Then I had lunch and after I was playing with a little girl and it was somebody's birthday. The elders had cake and ice cream and then they watched a movie. At that point I wasn't really doing much. After that was over I left for the day. Up to know I have 48 hours and 20 minutes.
Today I also talked to my mentor to see when I could do my presentation. She said I could do it on April 7th anywhere from 9:30 to 10:30 and she would like me to do it at my workplace. I told her I would tell my adviser and let her know for sure on Monday.
To make up the hours that I am missing I might go in sometime on the weekend if I don't have very much work to do.

WLE Reflection#6
Yesterday I went to my internship. I got there at 8:30 am and I got out at 2:45 and that gives me a total of 42 hours and 5 minutes. When I got there there was only 4 or 5 patients in the activity room. The majority of them were asleep. I started talking to one of the patients and then I started to read to the patient. After I did that I walked around for a little to see what the other patients were doing and then a little girl that goes there with her grandma asked me to play with her. So, I did and we started hitting around some balloons with her and some patients. After that I participated in an activity with the elders and then I had lunch. After lunch I went back to the activities room and watch the patients have a spelling bee and then I continued to work on my project. I did not have an opportunity to ask anyone why they were in this profession because all of them were busy. That is basically what I did all day.

WLE Reflection#5
Today I went to my internship. I got there at 8:25 am and I got out at 2:40 pm. So far I have done 35 hours and 50 minutes. Today I spent my time in the activity room. When I got there not all the elderly were in there. I got there and I started working on my project. Like I mentioned last week as my project I am making an art collage. I started working on it last week, when I chose all the art work I was going to use with one of the patients. Today I started pasting the drawings on a board, but I still have not finished. I spent some time doing that, then I had lunch, and in the afternoon I was asked to spend some time with a little girl who was there with her grandma and I was just playing with her for a while. After that I went back to the activity room and saw the elderly participate in a spelling bee and then I left before that activity was done.

WLE Reflection#4
Today I went to my internship and I got there at 8:45 am and I got out at at 3:45 pm. Today I was with the elderly and I got to read newspaper to some of the patients. I also got to paint some of the patients nails. I was there for a long time and I got to see some of the patients participate in a spelling bee. I also got started on a project which is required for this assignment. What I started doing was an art collage with a bunch of art work that the patients have done throughout time. I was really impressed with the art work that I saw because all of them were very creative and well done. I'm really excited about this project because I didn't decide on the things by myself I got help from one of the patients and she also helped me decide what section of the drawings would e used for the collage. From what I have gathered and cut out so far I think that it will look very good in the end.

WLE Reflection#3
Today was a good day at my internship. I got to Central Gardens at 7:30am and got out at 3:00pm. I also found out who my mentor will be and I got an idea for my project. Today I mostly helped with the patient care again and it's really interesting and it really makes you realize that nurses and CNAs are really important. I also help out in activities for a while. I help get the patients ready for mass and then to watch a movie because they didn't want to play Bingo. I realized that it's important to patience and respect for the elderly because it's just like dealing with children.

WLE Reflection#2
Today was my second day at my internship. I went in at 7 am and got out at 3pm. I got there early because my cousin works there and I went in with her. Today I got to assist my cousin with patient care instead of being in activities. To take care of patients takes a lot more patience than doing activities with them. I also got to see what the patients do when they go to physical therapy. In therapy the patients do things that we do every day like move their arms, legs, and heads. To day was a good day because I got to really see what the nurses do every day and I got to feed one of the patients.

WLE Reflection#1
I had not made a reflection before be I did not have an internship. The difference today is that I have my internship and I started today. I'm working at Central Gardens. Today I started at 9:30 am and finished at 4:30pm. To day was a pretty slow day since it was a holiday. I spent all my time in the activities room with all the seniors. It was a pretty good experience. What I mostly did was give the elderly games to play and make sure they were doing okay and feeling alright. I plan on going on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday to make up a few hours I have missed and to pulling in some extra hours just in case I don't have enough hours done on Mondays. That all I can say for my first day, but hopefully tomorrow will better and I can go help out in other areas.
